Join me for an interactive session on CHAMPS, a research-based, proactive classroom management strategy designed to prevent unwanted behaviors before they happen. CHAMPS focuses on establishing clear expectations that set the stage for a positive, well-structured classroom environment. While it’s not a quick fix for the most difficult behaviors, when implemented consistently, it reduces the majority of classroom disruptions, making learning more focused and engaging.
In this session, we’ll break down the key components of CHAMPS—Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation/Post-Activity, and Star Student/Success—and explore how these elements can be aligned with your current classroom management strategies. Together, we’ll create an example CHAMPS chart, walk through real-life classroom scenarios, and develop proactive plans to address challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to apply CHAMPS principles to design their own management plans for various scenarios, sharing insights with their peers to reinforce best practices.
By the end of the session, you will:
  • Gain an understanding of the CHAMPS strategy and how it supports proactive behavior management
  • Develop a personalized CHAMPS plan for your classroom
