Brisk Teaching: How AI Can be a Breath of Fresh Air
Monday January 6, 2025 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST
AI.  It's a name that strikes fear (or at least annoyance and displeasure) into the hearts of most educators, but what if I told you it can be very beneficial when used as a tool rather than a content generator?  Welcome to Brisk Teaching, an AI-based app that can breathe some fresh air into your routine as an educator, help save time, and help you better serve your students.  This session will introduce you to Brisk Teaching, show you how easy it is to use, and give you plenty of examples of positive, helpful ways to use Brisk Teaching's AI in your classroom.  This session will also discuss practical ways to spot AI use in student responses, combat that AI use in your classroom, and help dispel some of the discomfort around AI.  If you're uncomfortable with AI in any way, this is a great place to start!

How to Develop Calming Areas: Lessons from North Lee Elementary
Monday January 6, 2025 2:20pm - 2:50pm EST
A calming area in a classroom is a designated space where students can go to manage their emotions, practice self-regulation, and to find a sense of calm when they are feeling overwhelmed or upset. A calming area can also provide opportunities for diffusing a negative emotion or situation before they escalate. Providing a calming area is a great way to help students develop their coping skills!

In this session, we will explore multiple steps to setting up calming areas in your classroom.
